More than 900 students got the chance to see the exciting opportunities and activities on offer to them at the Loughborough College Freshers’ Fair this week.
With the brand new Hub building, Sixth Form College and gardens as backdrop a smoothie bike and fresh pizza boosted energy levels while students scaled the heights on the outdoor climbing wall as others also failed to keep their feet on the ground with inflatable jousting.
Public Service student Tom Warne raised funds for The Point Foundation charity, supporting thousands of vulnerable children and young people across Africa, the College’s Student Enterprise Society was launched and a smoking and shuddering car crash simulator and ‘beer goggles’ challenge were on hand to raise road and alcohol safety awareness alongside a host of health and financial advice.
Loughborough College music students Billy Harris, Lucy Hooper, Jarreau Wetzels and Tandee Pegler kept everyone entertained throughout with live performances. Tandee said: “Today was my very first live performance, and although it was really nerve- wracking at the start, I really enjoyed it and it’s going to help me so much in future performances.”
Emma Setchfield, Student Engagement Lead for Loughborough College, added: “I am absolutely delighted with the success of today’s event.
“Students got to experience some of the amazing services we can offer them and a large number were heavily involved in the running of the event, from the Student Enterprise Society and Public Service students raising money for charity to signing students in and taking care of the car parks, not to mention the fabulous performances of our very own music students.
“The event is a great platform to ensure we continue to engage and add to the overall student experience at Loughborough College.”
