Following the announced departure of Esme Winch, Loughborough College is delighted to confirm the appointment of Heather MacDonald, who will be joining the College on 1 October.
Heather brings with her 24 years of experience as a senior leader in further education, including 17 years as Chief Executive at two high-performing further education colleges, together with an impressive track record of developing award-winning partnerships with employers and stakeholders.
Chief Executive and Principal at Sheffield College for seven years until June this year and before that for ten years at Wakefield College, Heather has also worked as a trustee for Jisc, a UK-wide supplier of technology services to universities and colleges, and with local authority advisory and inspection services.
A former Council member of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, Heather has a high level of expertise in industry vocational training at further and higher education levels and has worked together with high profile companies in sectors as diverse as logistics, construction, manufacturing and health.
“The good and outstanding practice which already exists at Loughborough College is a cause for celebration,” said Ms MacDonald.
“It is a time of change and challenge in further education but there are many, many opportunities for a well-led college.
“My goal is to seize every opportunity available to build on the success at Loughborough College and to cement its position in the region and nationally.”
