A prestigious award from a top professional club has rounded off an outstanding year for a Loughborough College rugby player.
Following an England Academy debut and no fewer than four first team appearances, Jordan Lilley was named as Leeds Rhinos Academy player of the year – with the highly regarded 18 year old achieving it all alongside studying for his Advanced Apprenticeship in Sports Excellence (AASE) with the College.
Tom Boxhall, Jordan’s tutor at Loughborough College, said: “Jordan has done fantastically well on and off the pitch this year, marrying his achievements with the first team and the academy at the Rhinos with his academics.
“He has not been as short-sighted as to put everything into rugby league. He realizes that, for example, injuries happen and it is important to give yourself options so he worked hard to balance his rugby with his studies.
“Jordan really is a great ambassador for the programme.”
