Fantastic fundraising year at Loughborough College benefits host of charities

A host of charities have benefited from a fantastic year at Loughborough College which has seen total funds raised top £5500.

Save the Children, LOROS, Cancer Research, the RSPCA, Rainbows and NACOA have all been supported with £5514 through student and staff enterprises and events since last September.

With £1,480 of the overall total, Service Industries raised the most at Loughborough College – with a large fundraising project for LOROS making a significant contribution of £933.

Adrian Walker, Senior Fundraiser at LOROS, who care for more than 2,500 people every year across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, said: “This is a fabulous donation and we are very grateful to Loughborough College. Their community fundraising is just the kind of valuable contribution which enables us to continue caring not only for the palliative care of people in our hospices but also to support those close to them as well.”

Other events, including Christmas Jumper Day and Comic Relief, also offered a boost to the total.

Businesses based in the town including Tyler’s Department Store, Lloyds Bank, Loughborough Leisure Centre, Bliss Hair Salon, World Buffet, Birds, Body Shop , Marks and Spencer, Rowena Garden Centre, Barclays and Sainsbury’s – as well as Escape Beauty Salon in Castle Donington and Pastiche Therapy Centre in Beeston -
lent students support for their projects.

Lydia Hovenden, Student Engagement Mentor at Loughborough College, said: “We are hoping to develop further partnerships to encourage fundraising and enterprise to take place in the local area.

“With the Support of the Student Engagement Team, next year is set to be another great year for fundraising and Enterprise at Loughborough College, offering even more money to some great causes.”
