A major Parliamentary event saw Loughborough College students, staff and governors join the Rt Hon Baroness Garden of Frognal and leading names in education.
At an historic time in Westminster, record numbers gathered in the House of Lords reception room to celebrate further education colleges and highlight their importance.
In a speech at the Association of Colleges (AoC) Parliamentary Reception for Midlands colleges, Deputy Speaker of the Lords, Baroness Garden, said: “In this House we will continue to sing your praises and champion the work that you do, as a sector.”
Guests also heard from speakers including AoC Chief Executive David Hughes, Skills and Education Group Chief Executive Paul Eeles and MP Toby Perkins.
“There was certainly a vibrant atmosphere in Westminster, with the no confidence motion being debated as we arrived in Parliament,” said Loughborough College CEO John Doherty.
“It was fantastic to join colleagues and students from across the region in the House of Lords to mark the contribution made by further education colleges at such a positive and inspiring event.”
