JUNIOR MASTERCHEF was such a success at Loughborough College, the next course is in for a double helping.

The four-week Saturday morning aimed at youngsters between 7 and 14 years old who may want to become chefs turned into a five-week extravaganza and, as restaurant trainer and sessional lecturer Katie Boden explained, there’s much, much more to come next year.

“I really enjoyed it myself,” she said. “We had people as young as eight and nine, so we did split them up on occasions. We limited this one to 18 people but the demand is so high we have got to make more changes. Seven have already signed up with six more from this course indicating they would like to return. So in February and March, we’ll be holding sessions both upstairs and downstairs in the training kitchens at the Radmoor Centre and hosting up to 30. I still expect us to be pretty full by next month so, if you are interested, get in touch with Student Recruitment at Loughborough College sooner rather than later.”

Katie, who said her seven-year-old son also enjoyed the experience, believes popular shows such as Masterchef and The Great British Bake Off have fueled the desire to learn.

“I just can’t want to get started again,” she said. “It was great fun, as well as educational, and everyone had a good time.”
