Niamh Emerson has announced herself on the world stage by claiming Heptathlon bronze for England in the Commonwealth Games.
The former Loughboorugh College student joined fellow teammate Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who won gold, on the podium.
At 18, Niamh is two years younger than Jessica Ennis-Hill was when she took Commonwealth bronze in Melbourne in 2006.
Niamh had a dominant win in the 800m to climb from fourth to third. She needed to make up around eight seconds on Australian Celeste Mucci and streaked ahead to win the race by more than five seconds and come home some 27 seconds ahead of the home athlete.
"She ran her heart out," said Ennis-Hill. "She was determined to get that bronze medal and what a way for her to announce herself on the world stage."
Niamh completed her seven events with a new personal best of 6,043 points.
