Loughborough College graduate Jamell Anderson has reached a personal milestone in the British Basketball League – with his 15 points on Friday night taking him beyond 1000 career BBL points.
The British forward and Leicester Riders player, who achieved a BSc (Hons) in Applied Sports Science with Management, said: "There is a sense of achievement. It's definitely an unexpected milestone and not something I'm keeping track of. I'm happy to have been playing professionally in this league long enough earn that. I want to continue to improve and achieve."
The Riders maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 87-59 win at Leeds Force on Friday and a 82-62 win over Manchester Giants on Saturday evening.
Jamell, who now sits on 1007 league points and picked up the MVP a week ago, was the first player to stay in Britain and work through each of the National team age groups to the senior team.
"Since entering the BBL I've improved in ways to make me more effective. I've looked at my game both defensively and offensively to improve.
"I've been lucky enough to play with and against some great players that I can learn from. I aim to help my team get results every time I am on court."
"We have a team of hardworking people, that is very strong as a unit. I know that with Coach Rob's [Paternostro] coaching and our continuous work ethic we will continue to get better and push ourselves to be the best team we can be."
Sport Development Manager at Loughborough College, Rob Jarram, added: “Jamell is a true inspiration to all our student athletes. His outstanding achievements are a result of his aspirations and his application. He is a real credit to the basketball programme.”
Jamell and the Riders are back in action on Friday night when they face Sheffield Sharks.
