Ten Loughborough College athletes have been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the IAAF World Youth Championships later this month in South America.
Sport student Hannah Brier, who is ranked sixth in the world in her age group, will be representing Team GB in the 100m in Cali, Columbia. Hannah will be looking to build on her spectacular start to the season after clocking 11.44 at the England Athletics U20/U23 Championships a fortnight ago.
Fellow Loughborough College AASE programme student Cameron Tindle headlines the men’s 200m with Catherine Reid selected for the women’s 400m and Alicia Barrett for the 100m hurdles. Alicia is unbeaten in her age group in the event this year. Carys McAuley heads the women’s 800m and Harriet Knowles-Jones joins the team for 1500m.
Also heading to the Colombian city for 15-19 July are Naomi Ogbeta, ranked joint seventh in the 2015 World Youth rankings in the triple jump, Joel Leon Benitez for men’s pole vault, Emily Wright for Long Jump and Emma Hamplett for Javelin.
The European Athletics U23 team has also been announced by British Athletics with four Loughborough College names selected. Also joining the team in Talinn is former student Yasmin Miller for the 100m hurdles.

Loughborough College Elite Sport Tutor James Wilkinson said:
“With a number of U18, U20 and U23 international Athletics competitions taking place this summer it is excellent to see that our students, both past and present, have been selected for these competitions.
“These championships provide an excellent opportunity to learn about international competition and they will hopefully be just the start of the international careers of these developing athletes.”
