The brand new Arts Academy and Hub at Loughborough College is in line for a national property ‘Oscar’ in the 2015 RICS Awards.
The £15m development at Loughborough College, which opened in September, has been shortlisted not only in the ‘Design Through Innovation’ category but also for ‘Tourism and Leisure’ in what are regarded as the premier awards in the country showcasing the achievements of the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment.
The winners will be announced at a prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyor (RICS) Awards ceremony in May, hosted by Channel 4’s ‘Restoration Man’ George Clarke HonRICS.
The The East Midlands winners will be entered into the national RICS Awards Grand Final, to be held at The Savoy, London in October 2015.
Loughborough College Vice Principal Yiannis Koursis said: “Our Arts Academy and Hub includes a 250-seat theatre, recording, photography and dance studios, restaurants and a library.
“They provide cutting edge facilities and offer the very latest in teaching, learning and support for our students.
“We are thrilled they have been shortlisted in two categories for the 2015 RICS Awards.”
Matt Hall, Principal Project Manager at Pick Everard added: “ Pick Everard are extremely pleased to have this fantastic facility shortlisted in two categories, it’s testament to the whole team – including IBI Taylor Young, Willmott Dixon and ourselves. With a strong commitment to excellence and a confidence that the Arts Academy and Hub has been built to the highest standard, I believe we have a good chance of securing a win on the night.”
