Loughborough College rugby names Matt Davies and Ben Grey have been signed by London Broncos as they prepare for life in the Championship.
The 18 year olds have been offered one year contracts fresh from completing a two-year Loughborough College and RFL Sport programme and will now train with the first-team squad before spending next season working with the club’s Under-19 side.
Davies said: "To train with the likes of NRL and Super League players will bring on my game and skills massively. I'd really like to pursue my career at the Broncos."
Grey added: "I'm really excited about this opportunity as it's been two years in the making. I'm looking forward to training with all of guys and have the opportunity to train with full-time professionals from Super League, NRL and the Championships."
Loughborough College RFL coach Rich Tunningley explained: “This a massive achievement for Matt and Ben but they really earned it.
“They had a great attitude and an outstanding work ethic and seized every opportunity to progress – they are excellent role models for the students currently on the programme.
“The environment at Loughborough College offers massive benefits for the young players. Their education runs effectively alongside their sport with what is being learnt in the classroom really underpinning and enhancing their technical development on the field.”
Broncos head coach Joey Grima said the pair had been well coached over the past two years.
"Not only do the lads demonstrate the personal characteristics that we require as a club moving forward, they also have the desire and ability to learn and improve.
"The players have made a remarkable rate of progress considering the small numbers of years they have been playing the game.
“Not only does this demonstrate the potential they have for future development when considering their training age but also shows that talent does exist outside traditional rugby league areas. The RFL should be applauded for the creation of the regional academies."
