After smashing the magic score barrier in the best live television performance yet Carl Froch and celebrity trainer Loughborough College Elite Sport tutor Rob Payne are through to the semi finals of BBC Tumble.
The four–time boxing world champion and his partner Sita Bhuller saw their score for a challenging rhythmic gymnastics routine take them into the top three on the leader board after the BBC One show judges, including Olympic medal-winner Louis Smith and legendary Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci, awarded the pair 31 points.
But coach Rob Payne cautioned that former Loughborough College student Carl and Sita “can’t rest on their laurels” in next week’s semi-finals with two routines to perform and phone lines opened up for the first time to public voting.
“It was fantastic to get our biggest points tally yet and to break that magic 30 barrier. Carl did a solid routine, really enjoyed it and had some brilliant comments on his technique from the judges.
“But it doesn’t matter what you’ve done in previous weeks or if you’re a favourite, it’s about how you perform on the night – and no one is safe.
“Carl will be upping his game still further on the parallel bars and for an acrobatic floor routine in the semi-final. We’re aiming for nines.
“The great thing about Carl is he won’t let anything defeat him. He puts in everything he can and has a great mindset. He is a winner.”
