The Loughborough College logo has been given pole position on the racing car of Seb Morris as he prepares to make his title bid at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.
The 18 year old College Sport student, who recently joined the F1 Caterham Racing Academy, follows his race in Monza in Italy in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC) series opener last month with a return to home ground for the second event on 24 and 25 May.
The Loughborough College name joined the racing car’s prestigious livery this week with its driver determined to claim the first podium of his maiden season in European competition on the 3.66-mile track with leading British team Fortec Motorsport.
“I wanted to put the logo on my car to recognise the great support Loughborough College is giving me,” said Seb, who is on the Motor Sport Association Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme.
“Everything I learn on my course is extremely relevant to my sport and the College gives me the opportunity to devote time to my work but to also have the flexibility to fit in my training or to go off testing in Spain or Italy if I need to.
“This competition is a real step up. Suddenly I’m racing at places like Monza, with all this heritage. It’s a pretty prestigious calendar. I hope to do my country proud at Silverstone and win the championship for Britain.
“I want to get solid points at the weekend, then get the momentum rolling in the championship and build from there.
“My experience of Silverstone will help in the races. I’ve been involved in some good battles with a lot of overtaking there in the past so I know what can and can’t be done.”
