Loughborough College Engineering students on cutting edge

The latest advances in technology were revealed when industry leaders Mitsubishi Materials arrived at Loughborough College Technology Centre this week.

Engineering students saw cutting edge tools in action with a morning of demonstrations presented by Product Specialist Dan O’Sullivan.

“The students at Loughborough College are the engineers of the future and this opened their eyes to the advances we are seeing in technology, the tooling they will be using in industry and its advantages.”

“I was really impressed by the speeds the tools operated at and the high quality finish they produced,” said Level 3 BTEC Engineering student Josh King.

Loughborough College Engineering Support Technician Keith Large added: “This was an outstanding opportunity for students from our Further and Higher Education Engineering courses as well younger students from our school links programmes to see the very latest, leading edge tipped carbide tooling.

“Mitsubishi also very kindly left us with a substantial donation of equipment from the demonstration.

“It really was an invaluable insight into industry which will give the students an edge of their own when it comes to employability.”
