Loughborough College students have been given the chance to go behind the scenes and see skills in action at the construction site for the town’s new police station.
Willmott Dixon trainee site manager Luke Chambers welcomed Level 3 Electrical Installation students and Technology Learning Coach Annabelle Armes to tour the development.
“Students had the opportunity to discover the role of computer systems in the work taking place, they were able to handle the drawings being used and could see first-hand how the lifts, air conditioning, generator and lighting, amongst many other things, were being installed.
“Danny - who works for one of the sub-contractors on site, Electract, after starting with them as an apprentice nine years ago - talked students through the electrical jobs they had completed and which were still underway, answering all of their questions.
“It was fantastic for the students who are really benefiting from the visits and work experience coming out of our great links with a growing range of employers including Willmott Dixon, Wates and Charnwood Borough Council .”
