Loughborough College students have spent 30 hours volunteering their support for the Warwick Way Action Group as part of the National Citizen Service Programme.
The group spent three weeks completing a range of work in the community including cleaning the WAGS Altogether Place and helping to raise funds.
The students also planted a garden as part of the Group’s Loughborough in Bloom efforts, using a gold medal pattern in the bed to highlight the 2014 ‘Going for Gold’ theme.
Jessica Pavey, NCS Project Coordinator at Loughborough College, said: “This project helped raise the profile of Warwick Way Action Group and all of the fantastic work they do in the local community, improving the area and providing support to the local children and youths.
“There are students at Loughborough College who live on Warwick Way and as a result of the NCS Graduates’ work, they will be able to enjoy breakfast clubs, after school clubs, arts and crafts, homework clubs and health workshops. WAG and the graduates have even raised money so that local residents are able to go on day trips.”
NCS offers 16 and 17 year olds the chance to take on new challenges, build work and life skills and boost confidence while meeting new people and making a real difference to the community.
