Premier League promotion features Loughborough College names

Leicester City player and Loughborough College name Liam Moore posed for a celebratory selfie with teammates to mark their promotion to the Premier League.

Two other College names, Andy King and Jeff Schlupp, join the defender on the squad.

After a combination of results in the Championship on Saturday went in City’s favour, former BTEC Sport student Moore tweeted: “We are going up say we are going up!!!” alongside the picture.

Andy King later tweeted: “So the best weekend of my life comes to a close…what a few days…we finally did it!!”

Loughborough College Elite Sport Team Leader Matt O’Dowd said: “I worked with Jeff, Andy and Liam throughout their two year BTEC programme and it is great to see how they have gone on to develop in to regular first team football at Leicester City.

“Liam is from the local area and initially came to the College on the School Links programme. To play in the Premiership next season will be a lifelong ambition fulfilled for all three and a real inspiration for the current scholars on the programme.”

City, who beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on Friday, needed Queens Park Rangers to lose at Bournemouth and Derby to fail to win at Middlesbrough. A 1-0 defeat for the Rams and a 2-1 defeat for Rangers secured Nigel Pearson’s Foxes a place in the top flight line up next season after an absence of ten years.

Leicester City is 19 points clear of third place with six games to go and say they are focusing on securing the Championship title before looking ahead.
