
A competition bringing together top culinary talent from across the country saw Loughborough College presented with an incredible 36 medals and four ‘Best in Class’ awards.
Celebrating the best of the nation’s skills and quality food the three day 2014 Welsh International Culinary Championships was packed with chef and front of house challenges.
Loughborough College triumphed in the ‘Cook and Serve’ category with three best in class, two gold and one silver medals. It was another gold medal and Best in Class double in ‘Open Fish’ and it was gold again for the College in ‘Fruit cuts’.
No fewer than 16 silver medals were awarded across meat, fish and pasta, fruit and vegetable categories as well as for front of house skills.
The tally was matched with 16 bronze medals, not to mention seven merits and three diplomas.
Darren Creed, Loughborough College Programme Area Lead for Hospitality Travel and Aviation, said: “We are thrilled with the results from this year’s competition.
“Everyone worked incredibly hard in the kitchen and front of house practicing the dishes and their skills, fine-tuning to get them absolutely right.
“To come away with so many medals is outstanding and we are extremely proud of every single one of the students. They are a credit to Loughborough College.”
