Loughborough College racing driver invited to join elite scheme

He was announced as a F1 name, soon after met Minister for Skills and Enterprise Matthew Hancock MP when he visited Loughborough College and now Seb Morris has been asked to join a prestigious national group to champion sport.

Seb, who is studying for the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence at the College, recently became the newest team member of Caterham’s F1 Racing Academy and the Welsh-born student has been invited by Sport Wales to be part of the ‘Elite Cymru’ scheme.

Only weeks away from his first ever season in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup with Fortec Motorsport, Seb said: “It really is a fantastic honour to have been invited onto the Elite Cymru scheme and I will do my utmost to justify the support of everyone at Sport Wales.”

“With the backing of Sport Wales and the Caterham Racing Academy this season is going to be the most important of my career by far. I’m in a very privileged position.”

Seb’s first NEC races come at Monza in Italy in April.

Sport Wales champions all sports while nurturing and helping to develop the best young talent the country has to offer. The Elite Cymru scheme covers non-Olympic sports such as motor racing and snooker, Commonwealth Games sports such as squash and bowls or sports which medal on a world level, such as golf.
